Koh Samui
From riches back to rags..
KIM: It is with extreme disappointment that I have to admit that I didn't actually swim in the sea on Bophut Beach. With a crystal blue pool and not much sun to speak of - it wasn't really the order of the day. It was no different on the last day of our stay. A huge breakfast (again with more champagne) dragging our heels we checked out of our villa, settled our bill and made ourselves comfy around the pool with a beer (after a small spot of shopping, another 3 dresses - but not at bargain prices here in Samui! Lets call it my Christmas present, thanks Mark!)
Lounging all afternoon, we finally and loathingly boarded the luxury 4x4 soccer mom car and headed back to Maenam beach. Same bungalow and so it seems, same linen (!) we settled back into backpacker lifestyle. A quick dip in the flat ocean, and the rain started to fall down and we giggled insanely while playing silly games usually reserved for the safety of a swimming pool - Marco, Polo!
After a quick trip to seven eleven, we settled into the Bangkok Post on our balcony while enjoying that lapping sound of waves just a few feet away.
There's something rewarding about staying somewhere posh and luxurious… the year's hard work paid off and that it's all deserved. A sense of arriving into adulthood. There's something more rewarding about being able to laugh uncontrollably at swimming in the rain and using an oversized (and now covered in sand) towel as a duvet with someone you love. Aaaaah!!
