On the Beach to Paradise found!
KIM: As I opened my eyes this morning I smiled at the sounds of the waves crashing… wow! However, as I lay fairly still I noticed that it was louder than I would imagine for a calm summers day in a Gulf. Hmm… Mark pulled back the curtains and pouring down was buckets of rain! Back to sleep then…
A little later it seemed a bit better and besides, this is the day we were checking into LUXURY! After agreeing to disagree, Mark went for his run along the beach, and I did mine along the main road. He regrets being stubborn as the sand here is ridiculously soft (good for beaching, bad for running). Breakfast and a phone call later we were waiting patiently for our transfer to the Zazen.
Driving into the Zazen was like driving into the really well manicured garden of heaven. We were welcomed with cold towels (even though the drive was only about 3 minutes) and a lovely cocktail (although I fear non-alcoholic). Then we received the most delightful news… an UPGRADE! To a VILLA no less! However, our room wasn't ready so we were going to have to wait at the pool! Mark hopped onto the free wireless within moments and I stripped down to my bikini and lay on the deck chairs around the sparkling blue water. At 2pm, we tried to see if our room was ready but unfortunately not, so we had some lunch instead. CHACHING! 900B for Lunch! Ouch! Ok, but this is for a special occasion, so … whatever. Cocktails and merry moods we were escorted to our Garden Villa and both burst into the hugest smiles when we reached it. Besides the extra large bed, extra large TV with lounge to enjoy it in… we had a bottle of sparkling wine and flowers to really make this feel like it was our honeymoon all over again! After running around looking at all the cool things in the villa (room is just not a word to describe the size of this!) including the ultra cool fighting Siamese fish that show aggression when they see each other (they're kept separate and decorate your bathroom) we popped our champers and loved our villa even if the weather was rather crap outside!
I've booked dinner for Mark's birthday at the restaurant for tomorrow night, so tonight we headed out to Fisherman's Village for dinner in the hope of having some well-priced and deliciously fresh seafood. It was fresh at least, but lacked a certain something I know Ocean Basket will deliver as soon as we home!
Arrived back at the Zazen and fell blissfully asleep in the most comfortable bed ever known to man. Although nothing more than a mattress on the floor, it just shows how important duvets, cotton sheets and giant pillows are!
