A five hour bus journey from Singapore saw us arrive at our next destination Melaka, a state on the South West coast of Malaysia which is best known for its food and its history.
We where given a guided tour of the city by an extremely knowledgable local and where transported around on the back of a trishaw, a really fun experience. The history of the city includes being colonized by the Portugese, the Dutch, and the English and we where shown important sites related to this. We where also given a guided tour of the Baba Nyonya museum which relates to the early Chinese settlers to the area.
A boat trip along the river gave us the chance to see two species of great wildlife. This included a number of large monitor lizards, which Mandy mistook for a crocodile. We also saw a mudskipper, which is a funny looking amphibian that resembles a cross between a frog and a fish.
