The anticipation of the dream is almost over. Twenty-four hours and we’ll be in Dubai, our first port of call. It’s so exciting! Since booking our trip, three months have absolutely flown by, and bar a few last minute details we are all set. Our bags are packed and Mandy has done so well to fit everything in her trusty Berghaus Jalan (her suitcase on a two week trip to Crete came in at a whopping 36kgs!!).
In the space of four months we will be travelling from Cadnam to the Copacabana. On the way we will be eating sushi in Hong Kong, elephant riding and bamboo rafting in Thailand, staying with a local tribe in Malaysia, going on a night safari in Singapore, as well as basking on the beaches of Bali. A weeks stop off in the ‘City of Sails’, Auckland, will then allow us to recharge our batteries and cross-continents into South America. Here we’ll learn to Tango (well Mandy will anyway!) in Buenos Aries and hopefully see Riquelme playing for Boca Juniors! Next stop will be Uruguay on the way through to witness the picturesque beauty of Iguazu Falls. The trip will take us across the Southeast region of Brazil culminating in samba and caipirinha’s on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro.
We will really miss everyone and hope to give you all an insight into the adventure by regularly updating the journal and adding as many photo’s as possible (those of you who know Mandy well will know that’s a lot! The nightclubs of Southampton will not be the same without the floodlight of a flash from her camera!)
