So I have made it as many of you already know and am finally getting settled in. Everything has been great so far. The flight was not too terrible coming in and neither was the jet lag, which is good! I live with four other roommates. A girl named Anna from Sweden, Clementine from France, Greg from UNI and Eric from USC. We all get along really well and so it all worked out perfectly! I have met so many cool people from all over the world! We all live fairly close to each other so many of our ventures consist of 12-15 of us, which makes for even more fun!
We have not traveled outside of Hull yet, but there is so much in Hull alone to see! We went on a tour of old-town Hull on Sunday. William Wilburforce, the man who ended the slave trade is actually from Hull, so we went on a tour of his route in ending the trade. It was definitely interesting because I have seen the movie Amazing Grace, which pretty much describes his journey. They have a huge city center which is like 3 shopping malls, thousands of outside stores, grocery stores, and so much more. It is pretty incredible. We have met some locals, which have helped us around town and gone out with us a few nights, so it has been so much fun.
I can't really describe England. It is everything you picture it to be. There are many double decker buses, actually tons of them, small cars, old buildings, tree lined streets...etc. Everyone is also really nice. They are interested in meeting us and showing us around so it has also helped it to feel a bit more homey. We have really just been trying to register for classes (they have a terrible registration process) and get into the school week. I will start taking classes Monday, which will be when I am completely registered. My classes should fall on a Tuesday/Wednesday, leaving perfect opportunity to take long weekend trips
I am going to Scotland this weekend and am very excited. Caitlin and I decided to take a last minute trip, since our plan to go to Dublin fell through until a few weeks. It is crazy being able to say, "I'm going to Scotland for the weekend," but i absolutely love it! I am super excited for all the opportunity that that brings! But anyways, enough for now and I'll post again whenever possible. I am on dial up internet right now, so it is about the worst thing ever, but hopefully i'll get some pictures up soon!
cheerio!
