Well I had a week of post camp where nothing much happened, we lifeguarded for a running camp and we washed cars... that was about it. Saw tropic thunder which was pretty funny.
Then on the 27th we finished up working and on the 28th we checked out of camp, got our pays (and tips from the kids!) and got a camp bus into New York!!
Once there I didn't actually know what my hostel address was (my bad :P) But I knew these two guys were staying somewhere near me so I went to their hotel and looked on the internet where my place was. Turns out it was only half a mile away! So I printed the directions (there were like 2 corners) and walked there, luggage and all :P
I walked past my hostel about 10 times, and you will understand why when I post a picture of the sign, I could practically fit it in my pocket if I wanted! A hotdog vender felt really sorry for me and explained exactly where to go lol! Then... there were SOOO many stairs, it was such an effort, and getting through the door... it was so badly designed for a hostel.
Checked in and the lady was like 'oh by the way no elevators here, you're on the top floor, and because we have no elevators we don't allow big bags in the room, so you can just take one small one' so i had to sort through all my stuff to take up with me... such an effort and by this stage i really couldn't be bothered! All the floors in the place creaked like mad but it was quirky which was kinda cool for my first ever self booked hostel :P
Oh and during my packing at camp I failed to locate my phone, so I thought I'd lost it :( WHich sucked cos it had everyone's numbers! So I bought an American 'cell phone', walked along Broadway after meeting up with the lifeguards, and went and had a ridiculously overpriced meal at TGI Friday's in Times Square. But we all felt rich after getting paid.
Okay gotta run, gonna run out of time but will update again soon!
