So the last few days have been some long stressful days of lifeguard training! The training is quite possibly the scariest woman I have ever encountered. And we had to swim about 700m in the LAKE when we were only supposed to do about 300m... but she couldn't admit she was wrong... anyway. The lake is scary cos you can't see very far beneath the surface so once there are kids in there it is going to be terrifying! But the waterfront is amazing i will hopefully take some photos soon if I ever get time off... (yesterday we had to continue the lifeguard course after dinner which is normally our only time off which made it a 13 hour day).
Today we moved into our proper bunks which is so exciting because I spent an hour unpacking and making my bed and I'm loving having everything out of my backpack! We get given linen but only one small crappy pillow so I bought one for $2.50!!! from Walmart! Best ever investment! It's so soft!
i'm sleeping in a bunk but this time because we only have 6 kids, oh by the way I have 13-14 year old girls (!!! :S !!!) the counsellors in our bunks actually have bottom beds which never happens but I am so thankful!!! The beds could be worse. That's all i'm going to say about that. The shower area is quite small and American toilets actually scare the bujeebuz out of me.
Everyone who i've met has been fantastic, so far it's only about 60% of the counsellors (American staff come next week) and they're all so lovely! We go out and mingle at the local pub and shopping at walmart so we've had some pretty fun nights but I opted to stay in tonight cos I'm pretty wrecked. Plus everyone (except lifeguards!!!) has the day off tomorrow and we have to learn lots.
The bosses are really lovely! Michael is the man who owns the place and he is so nice, his whole family is here and they're all so cool, really make you feel part of the family! Michael even came around in buggies when we were moving to pick us and our bags up and take it to a new room. We were staying on the Silver lake campus and moved to the Chipinaw campus (those of us working at chipinaw) which is actually a good 10-15min walk so it was awesome that he picked us up.
Anyway, my time on the computer is up. Love you all, have an awesome time and keep me updated!
oh, p.s. as soon as the kids get here on the 30th june they will be blocking facebook so anything you want me to see in the next 2 months write to me in an email otherwise I will reply to everything after camp (on facebook)
Okay talk to ya later xooxox
