Chiang Mai 4th July - Trekking
We set off early on the 4th July to head up to the Elephant Park. We rode Elephants for about an hour and I rode on its neck (instead of the chair). This was so much fun especially when I holding on by one hand going down a cliff!!
Next we went swimming in a waterfall/pool which was also a lot of fun and refreshing.
Then the TREK started with our guides the very funny Mr Sammy and Ooh La La .. we walked for two hours over one mountain. One minute we were scaling up the mountain losing our breath then skidding down a rocky path.. little did we know the worst was yet to come. That night we stayed in a small tribe in one of their houses on stilts (which looked like a tree house). The room consisted of thin mattresses on the floor, 20 year old sleeping bag (Thank God for my sleeping bag liner) and a mosquito net. The toilets were outside and typically asian. They looked like normal toilets sunk in to the ground which you have to squat over.. it was an experience.
That night we had noodles prepared for us and red curry which was very tasty. I was so tired that not long after 9pm quite a few of us went to bed..
to be continued...
