We've come towards the end of our Laos adventures so wanted to recap on the goings on from the last week or so. Passed through Vang Vieng though the only exciting thing there was the fact that I caught a parasite (see below for more info). Oh the scenery on the bus was pretty spectacular too.
We then travelled to Vientiane (Capitol) and had a few days chilling. There wasn't a huge amount to do in regards of sights but one of our favourite pastimes was sitting on the river wall watching the sunset (though none existent). Followed by what can only described as a stroll while locals jogged past us. We also decided that Vientiane is a beautiful place to live especially as they have a bowling alley (yes we bowled). However they are missing one vital pastime, crazy golf!! As if it was meant to be we found the perfect spot in the park next to river.
Ok so I hadn't been feeling well for about 5 days dissiness, stomach cramps, no energy and extreme burps, like I burped more in those 5 days than I have in the last 24 years . Decided that it was best to get checked out before heading further south and away from western medical care. So after consulting our trusty LP I could be seen by a doctor at the Australian embassy thanks to my trusty UK passport. Turns out I had a parasite, and was given some hefty tablets to kill the b*****. 4 days later im feeling much better.
Unfortunately on a night when i wasn't feeling well we had booked a sleeper bus 11 hours, to get to 4000 islands. It really wasn't a pleasant experience as Clare and I had to share a bed smaller than a single while i held a bag in my hand really to make the dash to the loo.
We are now writing this swinging (bumping into each other) in hammocks at 4000 islands. To be honest neither of us are wowed so have decided it time to cross over to Cambodia.
