Caught the underground into the city and had a guided tour through the Roman Forum (city centre from Roman Empire time, about 2000 years old) and after that we went across for a tour of the Coloseum. After tour went for more pizza and then to Vatican City and Museum. Museum was amazing seeing all the ceilings, floors and walls completely decorated, and not to mention all of the artwork and sculptures. At the end of the museum was the Sistine chapel which is pretty impressive as well!! After museum we walked up St Peter's Basilica's dome, about 568 steps to the top. Inside you can walk around the inside of the dome looking down to the tombs of the popes and church, but you can also walk right to the top of the dome to have views of the Vatican City as well as Rome. After catching our breath and walking back down we went inside the tombs of the popes, wasn't really sure what or who we were looking at but everything was very impressive and the artwork everywhere is stunning. On way back to meeting spot went to La Cripta dei Cappucinni of 400 monks and their bones that are on display, weird and kind of creepy! Went back to Spanish steps for ice cream before heading back to camp, didn't have time to catch up with the other things we saw last night to see them in the daylight which was a b*****.
