We Flew to Milan from Heathrow @ 7.50am so early start to the day for us.
Took us a forty minute train ride from Airport to Central Milan, after checking in at hotel we spent the rest of the day discovering Milan and what it had to offer, was more a business atmosphere than touristy. Milan is renowned as one of the world capitals of design and fashion.
We visited Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in the Piazza Duomo (reputed to be the world's oldest shopping mall) famous for its fashion houses and shops such as Gucci, Prada, Versace, Missoni, Dolce & Gabbana, Armani, Valentino, Trussardi, Luxottica and Moschino, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, Ferragamo, Fendi and Hermès. All a girl's dream and I am very proud to say that I was well behaved and did not buy a thing.
We also visited Teatro Alla Scala (Opera House) and Castello Sforzesco very old castle and was massive from the inside, this was where it was my first experience of being conned!! Should of listened to Hamish, but it was nothing to drastic. On our walk of the town Hamish lead me into a random ancient building which he believed featured a big garden still have not seen these gardens by the way which in the end was a University as Hamish nearly walked in on a class!! Haha should left to it and seen what the reaction would have been. Also walked past the world's first seven-star hotel, the ultra-luxurious Town House Galleria, located within the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.
On Saturday it was a big day for N.Z. with the All Whites having victory winning and making the Football World Cup. We then headed on the Metro with the team Emma, Mike, Rachel, Tim, Martha, Callum and Jo. On our walk from the train station to San Siro we stopped off at a truck to buy a few beers this where everyone was shocked because Hamish was being served by what looked to be an eight year old boy!! Unbelievable!!
San Siro is one massive stadium where we watched the dissapointing game of the All Blacks versus Italy, where the All Blacks did win but was not an enjoyable game as I think more people enjoyed the atmosphere of the crowd overall. Also what was very entertaining for us was the toilet systems when New Zealanders didn't know what they were in for!! A hole in the floor and that is it lol the amount of people who would refuse to go and hold on until after the game!!
Sunday our last day in Milan we all headed into the Square where it was not the flashest day freezing cold and decided we would have gelato, then headed towards the Duomo where we went inside the Cathedral, was very amazing inside different to all other cathedrals we have visited. You could not look around the whole cathedral as blocked off which was dissapointing.
