Ahh Japan, the land of heated toilet seats, nude hot springs and crazy tv!
It took us 2 days to get to Niseko. With a hellish stopover in tokyo...with all our gear we got real up close and personal with the locals on a train we eventually got spat of out of in downtown tokyo, got lost a couple of times, and was introduced to the concept of the"love hotel".
We have just entered our third week in Hirafu, Niseko. Our first week was bliss. Massive amounts of snow everywhere. It snowed continuously for 3 days which made the ski hill just awesome. It was at times difficult as visibility was limited when snow wind and cloud engulfed us but it was great fun. One day they closed the hill due to the wind which gave us a day off to explore the surrounding neighbourhood and closest town Kutchan. the last week though the temperature has risen quite prematurely (so the locals say) and a lot of snow has melted. It seems that the season is on its way out and yet it has just began to bucket as we white this blog, so there just might be another big dump before we leave.
Althought we are sore most of the time, we are getting great training for trekking in Nepal as we are feeling fitter with all the snowboarding we are doing.
we have been enjoying the food and the company of our friends, Kal, Maggie, Todd, Kate and Lisa who have all been great.
we hope to get some pictures up for you soon,
love Hamilton and Cecile
