With the current situation in Tibet at the moment, we decided to give it a miss for now and head straight for Nepal. We arrived in Kathmandu late at night. No problems getting a taxi here, after a little haggling, straight to the hotel through the alleys, past the cows. A little offputting, we were a bit on the defensive, not knowing where we were going or what to expect. Our worries were quickly put at ease by the hotel staff. It's true, people really do make or break a place. The Nepali's are such friendly well spirited people despite their hardships, they could not be more welcoming.
Thamel, the tourist area of town, was dusty, loud and colourful, good for the experience but not somewhere to linger for too long. The local food is awesome, Nepali sets are a favorite. Cec may have actually turned vego thanks to the great variety of choice. Once we met with Santosh we gathered our stuff, hopped a bus for a harey ride to Pokhara.
Cows and dogs rule the streets here and can be a hazard on a motorbike, but renting one was a great way to see the sites and stay cool in this heat which is getting worse as the monsoon starts to arrive.
So next stop Annapurna base camp, talk to you in two weeks. yeow!
