Song of the Day: Happy XMas (War is Over) - John Lennon
Mumisode of the Day: "We're going to take the Ethiopians by surprise!" Mum's helpful comment on the way to the Ethiopian restaurant after discovering that Dad had not made a reservation.
Mum had a fantastic day today. She set off with Dad and bags of washing to the laundromat and returned later with bags of fresh and clean washing. She had such a genuine smile on her face when she returned!
It was a bit of a grey and grizzly day in Geneva. Amber and David spent the morning looking for a watch for David. When Gemma finally emerged from bed after watching some BBC (BBC iPlayer has revolutionised her life for the moment), she met up with David and Amber for some lunch. We decided to brave the 'Global Cafeteria'. It was completely packed and everywhere you looked there was a bar selling a different sort of food. We took the safe option of panini but even this cost us 13 francs. A coffee shortly afterwards cost 8 francs so this turned out to be a bargain.
The fantastic part of today was that David was able to buy a gorgeous Tag Heuer watch. It complements his wedding band so well. The tax refund information is so varied; everywhere you go there seems to be another story. We thought that we were getting around this complication until we realised that the imprint of the credit card meant that the tax could soon catch up with us again if we couldn't find that customs official.
Dad found a great Ethiopian restaurant for dinner. We caught a bus over the river and the tram back. The food was actually really nice. Dad tried the Zara special, a little like a dosa that you filled yourself. The rest of us tried the vegetable tahli and loved it.
