Popoyo has tons and tons of creatures. Stickbugs, tons of ants, big toads, a lot of butterflies, and many more. I loved Popoyo! One reason I liked it, was because of its nature. At night, we played with toads with our friend Olivia (you will find out who our friend Olivia is later in this entry).
Once we were outside playing and Levi found a stickbug on our front door. He picked it up, and let it sit on his hand. The stickbug was curious of Levi, so he started to climb up him, eventually the stickbug made it up to Levi's face. It crawled over his mouth, and crawled on the back of his head. Maybe there should be a new TV series called "Curious George, And The Curious Stickbug! Ha Ha ! Later that day, mom looked up some facts about stickbugs for science class. We learned that stickbugs were the longest insects in the world, and some other stuff.
One of the first nights we were in Popoyo we discovered the toads that went into our yard every night. Dad and Levi, decided to be brave and hold a toad. A few nights later, I decided I would try to pick one up. The night I decided to pick one up was one of the nights we were playing with Olivia. In order to hold one of the toads I had to chase it. Chasing it did not work at all, so I snuck up on it then swiftly picked the cute brown toad up into my hands. From that night on, we would hold toads and give them baths with the hose water when they got dirty. There were two big buckets that we would put them in, when we washed our hands or had to leave them for a second. Sometimes, they would escape the buckets, sometimes by jumping out. We discovered the buckets were not the best thing to keep them in. We would name the toads, and surprisingly, we were able to tell the toads apart, they all were different just like people. The first toad we found on the first day we started our toad businuss was named Todd, but the next night Todd was not in our yard. Olivia's favorite toad was named Ronda. I came up with the name Ronda for the toad. Why did I come up with the name Ronda? Because rana means frog in Spanish, and Ronda sounds almost the same as rana. The first day we met Ronda, I discovered that Ronda was missing a leg and Olivia found out that Ronda was missing a couple of fingers. Olivia said that she had heard something about how after a mommy toad has a baby she loses some of herself, and that is how we discovered Ronda was a girl. We researched that idea and haven't found anything on it. Levi pointed out that maybe a hunter ripped off Ronda's leg for meat, but I surely didn't believe that. Ronda the Toad came back to our yard every day, along with two other toads. I think those to other toads who came to our yard every night, we named Pepper and Vanilla.
As I said in the beginning of this entry, I will now tell you about Olivia. The house we stayed in Popoyo had two stories. We stayed on the 1st story, and Olivia and her family stayed on the 2nd story. Olivia was ten years old, so we did not have any problems hanging out with her. I was glad she was only ten, because if she was like13, we definitely would not have gotten along as well at all. My brothers, Olivia, and I played every day, almost all day. The only time we were not playing was during school, and at lunch, dinner and of course breakfast. We were lucky to have a big brick wall around our house, so the parents did not have to watch us at all while we played. Popoyo would have been pretty dull if Olivia was not there to play with us kids. Why would it be so dull? Because Popoyo does not have much to do, sure it has a beach and a place with a pool 2 minutes away, but just because it has all that does not mean we can go to those places 24-7. Olivia is from New Hampshire, but she comes to Popoyo, Nicaragua 6 months out of the year. Olivia's family has been doing the trip to Nicaragua for two years.
