Today we got up and had breakfast at the hotel. Between breakfast and class I spent some time with God? I have found this is the best time for it. I have been studying a variety of verses that talk about "who I am" in Christ. I have enjoyed learning about how "I am the salt of the earth" and a "child of God". Then I went to an absolutely stimulating art class (do you sense the sarcasm?). After art we went straight on a 2 1/2 hour walking tour of Barcelona. We walked ALL over the city. (which is HUGE, by the way). We took the metro to the actual busy part of town. We spent a long time on Las Ramblas, which is the main road running through Barcelona. It is very touristy, but it was wonderful. They had shopping all up and down it, with street vendors selling everything from postcards and flowers, to pets. Also there were tons of those statue people. They dress up like silly little statues and stay still unless you put money in their hats, then they dance or make faces and do funny stuff. I took tons of pictures of and with them. One of them gave us a charm when we took a picture with them. I am collecting all of the things like that to put into my scrapbook when I get home.Â
After our tour we went to the market. This place was soooooo cool. I wish we had something like that at home. It was in a huge building that had tons of little stations all with different kinds of fruits, breads, meats, cheeses, and more. I am so jealous of the people that have the privilege of living in Barcelona. Because Marisa and I haven't been huge fans of Spanish food so far, we went and got a bunch of fruit and bread at the market for the week. We decided to eat out once this week and eat in the rest of the meals. It is much cheaper that way and then I know that I like it. But I have been a little adventurous? we bought mango and star fruit. Haha. I know it isn't much but it should count for something.Â
After the market we went back to the hotel to change into shorts and headed to the beach. We had to see the beach before we left Barcelona.  We stood out like a sore thumb? maybe because we actually had on tops. Needless to say, the beaches in Spain are considerably different from the beaches in the US. After walking on the beach for a minute we took a walk down the coast to some sky buckets. They started at the beach and took you back over the city and ended on a mountain. It was the most amazing view. I couldn't believe how big Barcelona truly is. It is kind of weird too, because normally you don't think of a city having a beach, mountains, and a big city, but Barcelona has all three. You should check out the pictures from this day! They are crazy! They can give you a feel for what I am talking about.Â
When we got back to the hotel, Marisa, Kimberly, and I listened to a sermon by Paul Washer. I was really sad that I would not be able to go to church all summer, but being able to listen to sermons online helps a lot. The sermon today was possibly the most convicting message I have ever heard. It was all about living a life that is radically different due to the change that Christ has made in my life. It was about living what we believe instead of being stagnant and lazy. I learned a lot from this message and feel very challenge to put a lot of what I believe into practice.
Well? that was basically it! I am proud of us today! It doesn't sound like it, but we did and saw a ton of stuff and we planned all of it on our own! What good little tourists we are..Â
