Day 81
Well, yesterday we were gradually introduced back to civilization, passing through actual cities, driving on roads with center lines, traffic controls, billboards etc..
Today, we re-entered wilderness for an hour or so when we left Revelstoke, BC and drove through beautiful Glacier National Park, Canada. We were headed south on Highway 93. Our drive through the park, took us through numerous tunnels called snow sheds. These were built to protect the road from getting covered by avalanches.
Tons of delays and road construction. We are so ready to be back in the states, only 300 more miles!
Just before we entered Radium Hot Springs, BC, we saw a herd of elk grazing in a field.
Yay! We made it across the border into Eureka, Montana at 5pm Mountain time. It feels so good to be back on US soil. This is the best country in the world! It's so good to see the US flag flying, mph instead of km, to have 4G and AT and T pop up instantly on our phones. And gas prices, still high, ($3.63 here) but not like Canada. Our all time high that we paid for gas in Canada was $1.66 per liter which is $6.29 per gallon. Also, some grocery stores charged you to use their cart, and they charged you for each bag. Today, at a gas station in Canada, while Michael was putting mega amounts of gas in the car, I asked the person working the counter if I could use their wifi. "It will cost you $6.00" she said. I told her that was ridiculous. Canada has lots of natural beauty and nice people, but it is good to be in America again!
We continued on US 93 to Hungry Horse, Montana, just south of Glacier National Park, MT (where we spent our honeymoon). Camping tonight at Timber Wolf Resort.
