Day 15
Had brunch overlooking the harbor at the Crest Hotel -Smoked Local Salmon Benedict for me, Fisherman's Special for Michael.
We have decided that, once in awhile, a meal at a 5-star hotel with all its gleaming granite, fancy woodwork, food, artwork, service, atmosphere, etc. is a nice welcome contrast when camping.
Today we took a leisurely stroll around town going to the Railroad Museum, Fire Station Museum & the Port Interpretive Center where we learned that PR has the deepest natural harbor in North America and it is the closest West Coast port to Asian markets.
We sat awhile on the waterfront at Cow Bay, watching a fisherman cleaning the catch of the day - a bunch of coho salmon, halibut, red snapper.
Then we drove out to Seal Cove Seaplane Terminal, sat on a bench and watched several seaplanes land and take off. So cool.
Stopped by the bakery for a baguette; the fish market for fresh local halibut, then back to camp for a scrumptious dinner. Took a walk, it started raining so we retired for the night. Tomorrow - the ferry to ALASKA!!
