First full day at new project. Today was a public holiday (youth day) so the vet clinic was closed. The family I am living with own a riding school so this morning I went riding in the bush for a little while. Then we went for a look around town. A VERY boring day at the vets today. Saw 2 dog castrations and that was it. A bit disappointed as well because yesterday they told us there was nothing interesting happening so not to bother coming into the practice, they would call us if anything interesting came up. Turns out they did a post mortem on a serval cat. I would have really liked to have seen that!! I feel the majority of the time I could be doing the same stuff if not more in England.

Hi everyone, don't really have time to update you on everything I am doing right now but just thought I'd post to say everything is going well at the new placement, working with a wildlife vet, it is a big change from Moholoholo but so far it is going well. Have worked with rhino, buffalo and dogs and cats!

Today we had to be at the practice for 7.20am as we had to go to Gravelotte to dart 3 sable bulls to vaccinate them and measure their horns. Everything went perfectly with the first 2 bulls but the 3rd bull started reacting badly and its heart stopped beating and it stopped breathing. They tried to do CPR but it was unsuccessful.
