An Island called Manta ray - Yasawas -Fiji - The South Pacific -
After another early start I boarded the coach to Denarau port and checked in onto the yellow Yasawa explorer boat.
First stop Manta ray island.
Feeling very excited and ready for some serious chillaxing.
Suncream on and I'm up on the top deck.
My lukewarm Fiji gold is going down just swell.
On our way out the dots on the horizon become islands and Beachcomber (known as the party island) was the first the boat stopped at.
It's tiny. About 3people on the beach and you can walk round it in 5minutes.
I got chatting to a few people and met Martin and his gf from Austria. Really cool guys, they had some time off from work and were travelling Fiji and Australia. I might meet up with them in Aus depending on where my path takes me.
After a 2.5hr boat ride we arrived at Manta ray and a small boat had came across to collect us. Whilst jumping onboard I watched in amazement as my rucksack had caught some air and joined me.
I wonder whether anyone's bags had ever missed the smaller boats and gone in?
On approach to the resort we were greeted by the sweet sound of acoustic ukelele and a non alcoholic cocktail on the sand. BULA!!! I don't think I can think of anywhere else I've had such a warm welcome. Humbled. This is the life.. :)
The island is tiny with palms right up to the beach so I just need to watch out for the falling coconuts.
Getting the snorkel out in a mo but first I might change into something a little less comfortable ;)
Officially on Fiji time. #sunblessed
