I'm now a qualified SSI diver!! :)
6:05am -
So I roll out of bed in my beachside hut and stumble to the beach for a pee only to be blinded by the most incredible of sunrises.
My wooden 'Bure' hut is about 5m from the sea so it didn't take me long to see Mother Nature in all her glory.
It was breathtaking to witness the hundreds of different shades of yellow and orange on the water and in the sky as the sun made its grande entrance.
"Good Morning Mr Smith. You're in one of the most beautiful places in the world and I'm in my boxer shorts."
(I'd say that's some pretty impressive morning glory!)
Ooosh
I've also got my dive exam today so I managed to finish off two more chapters of my ocean diver book.
(Homework on the beach is actually pretty fun!)
Everyone on the island keeps telling me the test is pretty easy but I actually want to learn a bit about what's going on under the sea.
It's a totally different world down there, sharks, turtles and dolphins just a few of the highlights in Fiji.
So after arriving on the island I had to go and make my own dinner plate from a palm tree and banana leaf. (Nice)
They're pretty hard to make as you have to weave the palm up and over up and over and then tie a knot in the end.
(I got half way through and had to redo it as I'd done it wrong.. "Sunny" just laughed at me)
Being a bit crafty I'd been pretty selective over my choice of leaf and managed to choose the biggest palm (So I got more dinner). ;)
I'm sharing my tiny wooden hut with 2 French girls (shhwing) and a French guy.
They're really nice and before bed christoff read everyone a poirot "crime story" in French.
(I still don't know what happened to the dwarfs goldfish bowl..?)
Dinner was at 8 and was a mixture of chicken, spinach, potatoes and mango delish! I polished off my whole palm tree bowl and wanted to eat my banana tree leaf as well but I don't think it would of agreed with the ceramics.
Afterwards we went down to the beach for some stargazing and to look for shooting stars.
The silhouette of palm trees on the night sky was exhilarating and the speckles of burning fireballs seemed so much closer than normal. (Might of been the Fiji bitter)
Two shooting stars later and a cheeky midnight swim (with my clothes on)
It's time for bed.
I also spent 25% of my day in the bathroom... :(
