So the sun has set on my first day (or half day) in the park.
I didn't really get much time to wonder very far. Only about 23miles or so ;)
Ok I lie, think it was about 3 in total, but what I didn't cover in length I made up for in height, climbing pretty high to get a great view of the scenery and towering granite cliffs.
I walked half way up the Yosemite Falls path and got some cracking panoramics of the vista. Unfortunately this time of year the waterfalls had iced over so no watery snaps for you but it's a truly magical place.
(Certainly smashes the a** off the New Forest!)
In the Visitor Centre I wondered around the exhibits and also watched "The spirit of Yosemite" video in the theatre.
Yosemite was America's first national park lobbied to be protected from development by Galden Clark and signed in by Abraham Lincoln. The video explained how the park was formed and documented the studies and efforts of John Muir to expand the boundaries.
This led the way for more of Americas areas of beauty to become national parks. Interesting stuff and worth a google.
I'm currently sat in the restaurant next to the roaring open fire. My nuts are roasting. (Cashews! You dirty minded b*****s!)
There's a couple of "Awesome" taxidermist specimens above the fire. A wild boar and a deer.
They would make fantastic beer trophies...

Tomorrow I'm going to smash the glacier point hike or maybe the el capitan hike. Think they're about 8hrs a piece. No hass. I just need to get to the bus stop in time, jet lag is a b*tch!
Time for a shower
Ciao for now
