Well made most out of last day at the luxury hotel monday. Woke early after only 4hrs sleep n tucked into the wonderfully varied breakfast buffet. Varied is an understatement, I had bacon, Thai omelette, fried rice with chicken, vegetable noodles all covered with maple syrup..Laurah had same. Where else in the world could u get a brekky like that?? After a belly buster like that we headed straight to the sun loungers nxt to the infinity pool overlooking the beach n that's where we stayed for the entire day only movin 2 cool off in the turqouisy-blue sea or order food n 2for1 cocktails at the pool bar. It was pure heaven apart from Laurah been stung by a baby jellyfish...I didn't believe her as we all know she can be a drama queen bt low n behold we sighted it moments later bt I had a full bladder so we didn't let that put us of lol
We decided we'd stay in the hotel for dinner again as it was our lastnight n did it in style ordering a feast to our room eating it in our jacuzzi filled with scented bubbles while watching a film on the massive tv - talk about romantic - unfortunately think we'd had a bit too much sun n nt enough water cos I started burning up n we both felt a bit ill n burntout. As if that wasn't bad enough we had hundreds of Mosquitos in our room n the coils we burnt didn't seem to bother them. The sound of lizards was coming from inside the room which didn't bother me until Laurah said "oh dnt worry if they drop on u cos they'll scuttle off" like its nothin!! So i slept with my head under covers which I never do n she took pics as this was somehow amusing pfft
Yesterday we got up early so we could make most of our last few hours in our little bit of paradise as we didn't have to check out til 12. Again had the mega buffet brekky n headed out to sun loungers dipping in the pool n sea at intervals b4 braving it and goin out on the jetskis for 20mins which was totally awesome.
12 noon came n we reluctantly checked out vowing we might jus have to return for her bday or Xmas. We decided to try walk to our nxt hotel which we knew wasn't too far judging by the map n arrived 10mins later absolutely soaked as carrying those backpacks in that heat was torture. This new place which we're in for nxt 7nights is a completely diff world in comparison to the Kirikayan, a lil bungalow set back in a more jungle setting with dogs, cockerels, frogs, lizards n whatnot roaming freely on the site. Room is very basic bt a clean bed, air con, shower (semi-outdoors), fridge, tv n wifi so can't complain really. It is actually nice n quiet here n it's run by a very friendly, welcoming family so more than happy to be here (Mosquitos r loving us here too)
We ventured out shortly after arriving looking for lunch n ended up been carted off to some kind of timeshare presentation on the promise of a free prize n food. Our honesty didn't get us the prize (or food now I think about it) bt we did get offered work in Koh Samui trying to get tourists to buy into the scheme....after a lil chat we decided we wouldn't take it just yet bt cud always be a possibility in near future. We did however get some of best advice about surviving on the island money wise n lots of do's n don'ts from expats who worked for Absolute. After been dropped bk to our hotel still hungry we decided to take the plunge n hire a scooter for 200baht a day (approx £4) n realised none of us had ever ridden one n maybe Thai roads, where people drive worse than everyone in Bradford, Harehills, put together, wasn't the best place to learn loool....ok long story short I never crashed but did nearly kill us driving down a 1 way street with traffic racing towards us! Maybe if the roads were marked better I would have known...dnt think we were popular with locals at that point but they didn't stop 2 let me turn anyway jus avoided us (barely) by swerving n continued on their journey. We slowly returned to our bungalow n parked it up, we'll get a bit more practise in mornin when less busy cos its an art driving out here n nt colliding!
Anyway we WALKED bk into the busier part to a nice family run restaurant we'd eaten at on our second day n had the most amazing, authentic thai food washed down with a tall glass of fresh watermelon juice mmmmmm
Well that's it for now. We both shattered from all the walkin in the scolding hot sun n even though drank a good 2.5 litres each still feel like its taken it outta us. Gonna brave it n quickly get in shower 2geva cos its semi-outdoors n the light is gonna attract all kinds of beasties!
As we've got Internet can update often bt these will be less n less more we delve deeper in2 our travels so appreciate the detail people. Bless

Barry Hi Wes and Laura....Sounds like great fun apart from being insect food ha ha .. Weather looks righteous, wish we had that kind of weather here. .. you wont be missing England it's been miserable, grey and wet.... Be very careful of the Timeshare Game it always sounds wonderful on the front end but behind the scenes very murky business...on lighter note you might not be able to ride the scooter, but you definitely look good on it ha ha .... oh and excellent account of your experiences, keep up the good work, and please remember KEEP SAFE.. Bless
