Exciting day today driving the coastal route to the Cape of Good Hope along Chapman Peak Drive. The scenery is stunning all the way in all directions.
At the Nature Reserve on the Pount we saw eland and ostriches as well as glorious flowers and birds. So lucky to get to the Cape without any one there except for us. Magic time watching the breakers and the birds.
Continued on to Cape Point and felt very virtuous ignoring the funicular and climbing up to the magnificent viewing point.
We had a lovely lunch stop at a restaurant on the beach where C and I had a wonderful paddle on the sandy shore. We walked after lunch to the penguin colony. That was lovely but somewhat overcrowded. The skin around their eyes goes redder as they get hotter. Lots of young ones and they were completely unfazed by the people.
Returned to the beautiful hotel where we were given the exclusive use of a 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom penthouse with pool and garden as the hotel pool is being renovated and we made a fuss. Well it certainly paid off this time! The butler bought us a nice plate of snacks too.
