Beautiful weather today. Very warm with clear blue skies. Wonderful weather for Table Mountain as no wind at all. Drove straight there- about an hour. Unfortunately despite having our tickets, we joined the back of a long queue for the cable car. Waited over 3/4 hour to board. The car takes 64 people by wait and only takes 4 mins to reach the summit, revolving through 360 degrees twice as it rises. Spectacular views all the way as you would expect.
Too little time on the top but thoroughly enjoyed it. Wonderful views, interesting wildlife and people from every nation under the sun. Amazing. Then joined the long queue to get down!! To add insult to injury, Ian and I had to get out as we made the first car overweight!!
Tour of Cape Town by coach next. Very attractive city. Pity about the crime problem.
Then STELLENBOSCH Gardens. Very beautiful in a stunning location on the slopes of Table Mountain. Acres of beautiful flowers and lawns as well as conservatory. We concentrated largely on the proteas and also the wonderful bird life. Far too little time again especially as we had to fit in a bite of lunch.
Took photos of a hen party who had found a spot in trees which they had decorated with chiffon and balloons.
Next stop the hotel which we had upgraded from the Victoria Junction to the Cape Royale. What a good move!!
We have a suite with two bedrooms both ensuite, fully fitted kitchen, dining room, sitting room and two balconies.
J and C have the same. Our butler came in to do the washing so clean clothes to take home!! We are addressed as Lord and Lady Howitt and welcomed into the hotel with gongs and clapping. A bit over the top but amusing!!
Went down to the Waterfront in the evening for a lovely very reasonably priced seafood meal at Sevruga. Excellent.
