Graeme round the world
Day 64 Sat 27th May - Generator switches on at 5.30am, which wakes everyone up for our early morning snorkle and first dive from the beach. It was a bit scary snorkling and diving back to the boat from the beach as you lose sight of the bottom and can see nothing but blue water.......... even though you try not to, the theme tune and images of Jaws just keeps coming into your head!!!!!!!!!!!! We sail out to Bait Reef on the Great Barrier Reef, the sun is out and the reefs turquoise. We snorkle over, around and down into the reefs and the coral has such strong colours as do the fish, clams and a variety of other creatures I have never seen before like sea cucumbers. Saw a turtle and kept an eye out for sharks, but they must have been hiding in the depths. Did my 2nd dive of the day, with the experienced girl divers on the Barrier Reef and went down to 8m and was down for 45mins, which is so cool to look up and see how far down you are and see the snorklers, corals and fish above you. Watched the sun set like a ball of fire over the reef and Ansley the cook did a scrummy supper and John the dive instructor put on a slide show on his pc to music of all the great photos of the day. I lay on deck watching the stars and we spent the night on the reef :o))))))))))))))))
