Graeme round the world
Day 28 April 21st Up at 4.30am for early morning walk through the jungle to observation hut by a waterhole sitting still for 2 hours, everyone was so tired and kept falling asleep with their heads resting against the small peep holes and some people missed all the animals. I kept awake most of the time and saw black monkeys squirrel monkeys parrots and a poisonous black and red caterpillar. The highlight was Joe getting stung by a bee and Steph falling over in the mud :o) Walked back for breakfast and then off to local farm which was basically a ramshackle orchard growing bananas, passion fruit, star fruit, bread fruit, limes and lemons and numerous other fruits which I had never heard of but tasted very nice. Back by boat to the lodge for lunch followed by siesta in the hammocks and then off for small trek to the ox box lake, we saw amazing trees and vines and Jaguar footprints, its always good when you get there and your boat has sunk, so we climbed into the alternative one and fished for Piranha and saw Macaws' and bats, it was so peaceful. Back to the lodge for the 3rd cold shower of the day, there is no electricity and just paraffin lamps and candles for lights, but this just adds to the wonderful atmosphere. Its our final night together as a group so we hit the cocktails and retire to bed to the noise of the jungle at night!!!!!
