Graeme round the world
Day 44 Sun 7th May - Half way round :o)
Arrived yesterday in Christchurch after the short flight between the islands, went up the cable car over looking the town to watch the sun set over the mountains. Found Pol Roger on the menu of a local restaurant, so savoured every drop over dinner. Up at 5.45am for trip to Mount Cook via Lake Tekapo. Took an amazing helicopter ride up to fly around Mt Cook and land on top of one of the snow covered mountains by a small lake. It was such a great flight and to land up at the top with perfect views was totally amazing, as we could get out and walk on the snow which had a hard crust and kept giving way so we kept falling over, which just added to the fun. The pilot flew between the gaps in the mountains making a really thrilling ride especially with the steep descent back to land. Had lunch on the balcony in the sun, with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, then more driving whilst the sun set to reach Queenstown 'the adventure sports capital of the world' :o))))))))))))
