Graeme round the world
Day 82 - Wed 14th June Up ate 7.30 for workout at the gym and then breakfast watching the highlights of the Brasil game. The service in this hotel is amazing, they have so may staff who are all very friendly and so eager to help you. In the foyer area alone they have about 20 beautiful girls in sari's smiling and always checking if you need any help...fantastic and makes you feel so welcome. My driver, Vijay Singh, funny I thought he was a golfer ;o) and my guide took me to the Qutab Minar a 72.5m tower started in 1199 AD and built higher by each generation. Next was the beautiful Humayan's Tomb, which is genrally regarded as the prototype for the Taj Mahal in Agra. Then we went to Old Delhi for another rickshaw ride. I've been on 3 now and they get more crazy each time I go. This one went through the back street bazaars, how he didn't hit anyone I don't know and it was great to see inside all the traders shops as he peddled his way in and out of the pedestrains and other vehicles that also though it was a good place to go down!!! Another curry for lunch and then visit to carpet shop to see how they are made in Kashmir. Some take up to 18 months to make and it is certainly a very tough and tiome consuming process. Luckily was able to fend off the salesmans very persuasive sales pitch and escape without buying any carpets, pasminahs, carvings..... and everything else he tried to sell me :o) Back at the hotel now and about to jump in the swimming pool, as it's 40 degrees +, before going on a night tour with Dinesh, my driver from yesterday, to hopefully get some night photos of the temples. Off to Jaipur tomorrow....... really loving it here :o))))))
