"Up and early because we don't want to miss the start of the cooking class this morning at 8am!!!! Ahhh wait, they didn't organise it because we weren't here to pay a deposit yesterday..."
That was how this morning went for the adventurous group. After some waiting around and bit of a chat it was organised that the cooking class we had arranged to be booked for today, would be taken tomorrow. As well as being a bit of a let down, it also opened up our whole day and we had to make a new plan. Naturally we decided it was time for another massage.
We went for a walk around the Lake of Restored Sword, which had fast become the only area we knew, and checked out streets such as Shoe Avenue, and HairClip Lane. They may not be the real street names but if you were given them as directions then they would be a hell of a lot more useful than James "No-North" Bulmans map reading skills. Which it turned out weren't all that bad because the street name that was on the corner of the street just didn't happen to be on the map at all, which is what you get for making street names that all look the same.
A few purchases later we wound up in Loretto's or Loronzo's or something for lunch. It's a Korean version of KFC which was also around the corner, and they had pepsi which luckily tasted nothing like pepsi and some decent chicken burgers.
Then we went in search of the massage salon that was recommended to us by the tour guide yesterday. It turns out that either her helpful information was totally wrong, or the map was not a real map. And just to make sure we had our trusty Navman lead us through the most untouristy area we have been so far. We did in fact manage to find several places that did massages, but there was no confidence in what we would recieve. And it was that, plus the fact that Karina was desparate to get her nails done and no one in that area seemed interested in nails, we found other places in another place that was not quite a "local".
We finished the day with the Vietnamese water puppet show. I think we have Penny Boom Boom to thank for telling us all trip how horrible it was. With no expectations I think we were all pleasantly surprised. The puppets were all very detailed a little smaller than I thought they would be but some of them sprayed water, some were on fire and overall they were all pretty cool! They had traditional Vietnamese music using their traditional instruments. I don't know what they are called but the standouts were a one or two string cello thing and something that was like a one string lap steel with a whammy bar, they both sounded awesome.
While the puppet show was pleasant for some, others needed an excuse to go back again. Karina and Koskey were complaining about enjoying the view of the back of a head. As McCosker put it the lady sitting in front of him was sitting on a spring which made her jump every-time he took a photo. They are planning to go back tomorrow and get seats a little bit closer to the front.
