Day 15 - Cooinda, Kakadu to Lee Point, Darwin
We booked for 4 nights but only stayed 3 so we didn't have to get up early.
We were driving out at 12:10pm.
We can't find my point and shoot camera or Merv's sun glasses. Hopefully they will turn up at some stage.
We stopped at the Bowali Visitor Centre for a cold drink. They were saying how busy it was - we are glad we saw what we did without the crowds.
We drove through the flood plains and over the South Alligator River. It's hard to believe all of that area goes under water in the wet season. The South Alligator is bigger than the East Alligator.
We stopped at the Aurora Resort and Merv bought a pie for lunch. It looks like a nice place to stay too, but it is further away from most things. Cooinda was good.
We left Kakadu, sadly for me and headed to Darwin about 200km.
We saw a Jabiru off the road so stopped to get a photo then back on the road and arrived at Lee Point Caravan Park at about 4:30pm.
It had been recommended to us, but if you had a choice you wouldn't stay there. The amenities are clean and there are lots of them, but they are run down and the hot water runs out.
The weather is hotter here.
