Yay!
At last things are more positive.
Drove from Villafranca to Cordoba. After the usual many wrong turns and narrow alleys I did find a great parking spot. By chance it was just across the bridge from the Mezquita, Cordoba's gigantic Mosque which was founded in 785. Truly it is an architectural wonder.
Then there was the Alcazar which was the castle of the Christian monarchs. It began as a palace and fort in the 13th
century and the Inquisition operated from there. Again there were beautiful gardens.
I missed out on the beautifully renovated Arab baths.
Found the city very pleasant less frenetic than Seville.
On the way out bought a delicious piping hot half a chicken and potatoes.
Drove 400 kms to Aranjuez.
Excellent road with little traffic through rolling hills and sunflower fields of La Mancha country, the stomping ground of Don Quijote and Sancho Panza. Sure enough there were the lonely windmills on top of hills. No not the modern sort although they were there too.
So all good.
Until I reached the campsite - again various wrong turns in the town of Aranjuez as all the roads are being changed in the centre. It will be nice when finished I'm sure.
The campsite was horrendous. Loud music with a dJ that likes the sound of her voice. There are loads of kids either shrieking or crying. The pitches are cramped and look worse as every bit of ground is taken up by caravan, awning, cars, barbecues, furniture, toys etc.
To avoid the noise I walked into the town which is delightful with a classical palace and gardens. It has been described as the Spanish Versailles.
I returned at about 10 pm thinking that the kids stuff would have ended down but not so. In the event it went on until midnight. Sacha wasn't happy either and wouldn't settle. Then around 1am there were fireworks.
