So real meat at McDonalds? Apparently only in Switzerland. OH and get this: Toblerone McFlurry and donuts.
We went to Interlaken today, which is about an hour bus ride away from the chalet. When we got there we had a half hour to explore the town while the other girls watched the chocolate show. Swiss people are crazy drivers and Interlaken was crowded with tourists leaning a little too far into the road. After a small exploration of the town we saw the chocolate show at Schuch Chocolate shop. Stefan the cute choclate maker made us little caramel mountains out of chocolate and showed us how to make a chocolate shoe and then gave us chocolate on a stick. In my opinion, chocolate on a stick should be offered whenever you walk into a shop but......
We left Interlaken and continued on our way to Trummelbach Falls, basically it's one giant waterfall that weaves from the top of the mountain to the bottom, swerving in and out of the mountain. We used the escalator to get up to the sixth level of the mountain and walked up to the tenth. Along the way there was a variety of different lookout spots where you could see the ice blue water smash down onto the rocks. Although we wanted to walk all the way down the mountain and look at the other look out spots along the way- we unfortunately didn't have enough time to walk, so the elevator it was! I got to meet up with my family in Switzerland today which was the best, I'm super happy I got to see them and I'm looking forward to seeing them again tomorrow.
We hopped on the bus to go back to Interlaken for another approximate two hours to shop. I bought a lot of things including Swiss McDonalds.... (awesome) and we explored oddities like hand-carved music boxes, incredible watches and knives, chocolate... and fun-pack swiss condoms that said "good luck!"
Back at the chalet we had alpine macoroni for dinner with peaches and cream for desert and I unfortunately got a dinner concert from oven-mitt wearing staff who sang to me in.....7? different languages?
For evening program we went on a twilight hike to a waterfall in the next valley over. I had the oppourtunity to meditate with the mist of the waterfall on my arms and looking into the mountains and valley and the sunset in Switzerland. All in all it was a great day. Best birthday ever. I love all my friends and family who spent today with me and I am so eager to start the next! Goodnight Ontario :)
