Last day in Tassie and it was still raining... we took a shorter drive over to the Tasman Pennisula and Port Arthur where we used to send the convicts who reoffened once they got to Australia. Really enlightening place and an absolutely stunning location. Unfortunately there is also a rather horrible recent past as a crazy gunman a few years ago went on a random shooting in one of the cafes on the site in which a lot of people died. We took a boat ride around the Port Arthur harbour - nuts to think that if we'd taken a right turn out of the heads the next land would have been Antartica (but Tasmania is still closer to the Equator than the South Pole).
The afternoon activities consisted of running from the car to enjoy different geographically impressive rock formations including Hells Kitchen, The Blowhole, the Tasman Arch and the Tessleated Pavement - would have made Mrs Munton proud!
Rain finally stopped so Suvi and I had a great night out with the locals eating oysters (yuk) and drinking Tassie's best beers (yum).
