A nice leisurely morning, even though Shirley and dawn were awake at sparrows fart. Shirley was feeling a bit under the weather (we've all had some serious stomach upsets here) so Dawn and I went to explore Lima for a couple of hours before we got on the bus.
Dawn left the navigation up to me...fatal mistake there Dawny, Georgia's sense of direction couldn't be more useless, ask briar. So off we headed in the wrong direction. After about 20 minutes of scratching my head and wondering why this bloody church wasn't where I was sure I'd seen it, I seeked the help of my map (yes, I was too proud to look before then) and realised I'd just led myself and Dawn into the red light district - a place we were told to stay well away from as crime was rife in these parts. Not willing to admit I was wrong, I pretended I meant to come here, and as we walked past a gay couple feeling each other up in the street, I made some comment how nice the buildings were in these parts. Dawn said nothing. A few prositutes later, we made it out of there with bags and dignity still intact and headed towards the better side of town.
Over an hour later (my iPhone map said it should take 6 minutes to get to this place from our hostel) we finally made it to Iglesia de Santa Rosa - the church of saint Rose, the first saint of latin America. It was really pretty and there was a huge rose garden and a wishing wall for letters to saint rose in the middle. You would have loved it grandma! We headed back to our hostel to pack our bags and get ready for our bus.
We then headed for a 5 hour bus further down the coast to a small town called Pisco, famous for the Peruvian national drink - the Pisco Sour. First impressions of the town werent the best, especially because it was completely decimated in 2007 by a huge earthquake. The place has barely recovered and tourism in the area has decreased significantly. I was ready for a nice roast dinner and has a try of the pisco sour. It's made from pisco (obviously) which is a type of Peruvian brandy made from grapes, lime, sugar and egg white to make it fluffy. Pretty tasty! I'll make sure I try them a couple more times before I depart Peru.
Time for an early night, as we have an early morning tomorrow heading to Nazca and Huacachina to go sand boarding woohoooo!

Briar Haha, Nannup. I think it was Pisco and coke that we had with the Chileans on the boat? Love you!
