Georgia's Travelling Adventure
So Argentina...I don't even know where to start...Buenos Aires is one of the best places I have ever been, the culture and experience will never be forgotten! We arrived at the best hostel that we have stayed in so far, Millhouse! We were told it was the best place to stay in Argentina and we were told right! The first day we got there poured down with rain and as we had been on the go for so long took the day to just chill out! That night there was a party at our hostel so we went out for dinner and then had a party at the hostel and ended up staying up with the bar staff until the early hours! It is always a good idea to make friends with the staff!!!
The next day we went to a department store which was really nice...we looked around all of the shops and on the streets which was fun...and brought a few items! It was quite similar to a European Department store really, but Argentina apparently sees themselves as part of Europe and not South America...ironic!! That evening will NEVER be forgotten!! We asked reception what the best restaurant for steak is in Argentina, so we went!! La Cabrella is THE most amazing restaurant I have ever been to in my life! The waiter asked us if we wanted to share steaks but we insisted on having our own!! Little did we know the size of the animal we would be receiving...the steaks were massive and incredible!!! I would go back just to go to that restaurant!! Lucy asked for hers well done and the waiter looked at her like she had just admitted she was a murderer!!! So they settled with medium- well!! The atmosphere, food and service were magical...and we are pretty sure we were sitting on a table next to Greg Kinnear (claim to fame!) We then headed to the other Milhouse as they were having a party which was also really fun!! The next day we went to some markets and went to the Recolleta Cementary where Evita and her family are buried...it was amazing to see how small her grave was! The grave stones were not like normal...there were huge statues for everyone, a very wealthy cementary, amazing to see! Apparently Evitas grave was so small because the rich didn't like her as she was like Robin Hood in that she took from the rich and gave to the poor! The only statue of her and there is only one is in her family home as it was private property! We then came back and went and watched a football match...River VS Arsenal (not the English Arsenal!) which was really good fun, although we had to sit in the Gringo (tourist) section as otherwise it can be dangerous! The score ended up being 1-1! We then went to a place in the evening called La Bamba which was amazing! It is in a huge warehouse and there is a percussion band on stage playing for a few hours, everyone dances and drinks, it was so busy but an amazing experience!! After that with some people from our hostel we went to one of the guys appartments and played, drank and chilled- was good fun! The next day we went to a place called La Boca which is a district north of BA which has so much culture although we were told to be very careful here as it can be slightly sketchy!! The whole town has different coloured paint over each of the walls because it is a very poor district and people used to steal pots of paint at a time and paint a square each being a different colour so it was a very colourful town! And we had lunch watching tango dancers around the restaurant...was very traditional! Although we got very wet here as it poured and poured!! From here we went to Florida Street which is a shopping street and walked around and felt that we wanted some Vino (as it was everywhere) so had a really nice drink and chat together! Thay night we wanted to go to a Tango evening so headed there ourselves...and ended up in the wrong place!! So missed it, we were really upset but felt the best thing to do was go back to La Cabrella as we were going to go the next night so just swapped evenings!! We went with two guys we met at the hostel Dan and Josh and all had Kobe Steak which was the best thing I have ever has in my life!!! Has to be seen and tasted to be believed that food could EVER taste soo good!! We then met lots of people at the restaurant and all headed back to the hostel as there was ANOTHER party (best hostel) going on and had an amazing evening!! Our last day we went to Palermo and walked around the shops and markets which was really fun! And in the evening we went and had a Tango lesson, three course dinner and watched a Tango show which was really fun! We went with a big group from the hostel, came back and all went to a club called Jet Lounge as they were throwing a full moon party...everyone had to dress in white and was really fun!! The next day we chilled out waiting for our VIP bus over to Mendozza...
