George's World Travels
Darwin....hmmm....Myles and I have both been putting this postcard off, but have to do it sometime I guess.
Basically our tour wasnt all that great. The itinerary was cool, loads of beautiful waterfalls, gorgeous places to swim in, great weather, lots of exercise, which M was very happy about. I just kept telling myself its good for me and soon Id be able to cool down in another plunge pool (temperatures never dropped below 30oC during the day!)
so yes , u might be wondering, what on earth could be wrong? Sounds like heaven. Well, basically we didnt like most of the people on our tour. There were 2 guys in particular, who I can only discribe as voulger. Middle aged, sleezy, loud, rude guys. To the point where they were making some of the girls quite uncomfortable. But there were a few people we liked and got on with. So it wasnt a total loss.
The whole experience taught us how important it is to have nice poeple around you, esp on tours where you dont have the chance to escape them until the end. Its made me a bit apprehensive about further tours, but I think we just got really unlucky. Its the way things go sometimes I guess. Im really glad that we had such nice people for New Zealand and China.
Another thing we both realised is that M and camping are really not compatible. The dirt, the comunal showers and toilets, and worst of all the ants. For some reason they seemed to know how much M hated them and so hundreds swarmed into his toothbrush case with his brush in it. Oh dear. For those of you who know Myles, youll realise how sacred his toothbrush is to him. I had to stop myslef from laughing-of all the people to pick on! but yeh M was pretty distraught. The insect repellent was used in full force, and from that point on any ant M saw was in serious trouble.
Im glad we did the tour though, inspite of everything. I also aquired a semi tan so thats good.
Enjoy the pics, theyre beautful.
