That was a good couple of days!
So, even though I've been staying in this general area, there is a lot to do. I went to Argeles sur Mer on my day off; I've been in the Mediterranian Sea now - that's a first. So far I've done both sides of the atlantic, and the BC pacific coast - I suppose now it's time for the indian or to head south of th equator!
I decided to walk back - took about three hours, but through some gorgeous scenery. There are just stops to buy fruit, olive oil, cheese, wine... this place is great. I couldn't ever get used to this kind of thing.
Next was the festival de st Jean, which is the christianized version of the summer solstice... anyhow, how it was celebrated was that they light a fire on Mount Cannigou, which is then run down to all of the surrounding villages. They all light a cannigou fire and then there's drinking and dancing. I went out with a few fellow woofers - it was a good night but it dragged on too far for me after my hike and work...
Speaking about the farm, I was to build a chicken coop but that's been abandoned because the hen isn't brooding anymore. Instead, I'm going to price out a solar food dehydrator - just a very simple model. It would save quite a bit of effort for food preserving. Unfortunetely, it's going to have to be made of unreclaimed wood... I will be building a couple chairs out of reclaimed wood over the next little while.
Starting to think of where to go next; it's getting to the time that I need to book train tickets. I may go to Barcelona for a couple of days before riding the train to Berlin to meet the 'rents... hope everybody's having as good a summer as I am.
The weird thing about staying here, however, is that the family is just a little disfunctional. So I watch what I do and say... the food and work is good enough that it's simply still worth it, in the end.

Jenn Well, I have to say, in reality, any family is dysfunctional... it will be great to see you, where ever we end up meeting up!
J oh, and do go to Barcelona! I have heard only amazing things about it!
