Ok so the last few days have flown by and I havent been able to jump online to keep this thing alive!
Yesterday was an awesome day for getting stuck in with day to day down town life. It kick started with joining the war college students for Fasting Friday. Then we headed over to the war college classroom for a lesson on witnessing and humility focussing on the life of Paul and Barnabus, awesome time with amazing people!
After that I joined the students for Holy Space, a 2 hour session dedicated to sharing highs and lows of the week and focussing on listening to God and letting the spirit minister. As a guest this place has made me feel sooooo welcome, true hospitality!
At the end of the fast we went for chips, hanging out with the team has been really encouraging. They are lovely girls :)
Last night was another homeless cafe session and I must be making friends cause I have been given a beautiful set of beads from one of the long term regulars. They have all shown a huge interest in the english tea i have brought with me, they are loving the Lady Grey! I am slowing learning about Native culture, there are many Native people here and its fasinating to listen to the history behind their culture.
After that we held a special 21st girly party for one of the students, Sally, who has given up her bed for me! We ate pie, danced and laughed. Those girls know how to have fun! I also got to meet Jason, his story can be seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xc--LoE_fAY (warning it contians swearing and introvenus drug using) he has moved since this video was made and is now living in our hostel. I am praying that God opens up opportunities for me to talk to him again, if you would like to pray about that too!
So i keep hearing sirens and seeing emergency services bods which has got me thinking whether i am ment to do something with them or for them. If your praying for me can you take that to God please?
today has been a kid filled day! One of the leaders, Jonathan, had his son Jed's birthday party at an indoor play centre. Fab fun
tonight i got my first glimpse of Church life here in Vancouver attending a Saturday night service at the local army centre. Reminded me of Iford, very small and cosy and welcoming. Please pray for Jonothan and Peter two guys i met tonight that are graduating from the local treatment centre and moving back into the everyday life. I am hoping to see them again to hear more of their stories.
and now here i am writing this...
its 11pm on Saturday now so i shall be heading off
catch u laters!
