hi all, well firstly i want to wish each and everyone of you a very merry christmas for monday wherever you may be in the world and whatever you may be doing to celebrate i want you to know i will be thinking about you all on this special day, lara and ethan what did you ask father christmas for?? i have to say it doesnt feel much like christmas over here, what with the weather and the fact that thailand is a mostly buddhest country and dont really celebrate it it is very easy to forget. anyway on to my news, i had a very lazy day yesterday, i got up late (for here) then went to the dusuit palace, i got a tuk-tuk there and had my first experience of being ripped off for 100baht- the tuk-tuk driver was mad and i nearly ended up in his lap a couple of times, i spent most of my time in the back praying id get there safe. anyway i eventually got there and there was meant to be thai dancing (which was the reason id gone) but it wasnt on so i did the tour round the palace which was very boring, actually worse than museums are to children, i nearly fell asleep! and then got in a taxi for my journey back to khoa sahn road as it felt safer and i wouldnt get ripped off, last night i actually ate in a restaurant instead of from one of the noodle stands that i have been living off for breakfast, lunch and dinner - it was a nice change for me to sit down on a chair to eat instead of on the pavement and the food was good too! today i got up early and went accross the road to the cooking class, i was sat waiting for it to start when they decided to relocate to the bigger restaurant so they sent a motor-bike for me, thats right a bike, not even a scooter - well iv never been on one before and i didnt fancy starting here on mental roads but what could i do? so i swung my leg over the back (very unelegently) and clung on for dear life, this time i didnt pray i just closed my eyes and hoped to live as we swung sharply through the early morning traffic, i got to the other restaurant with my adrenalin pumping and all ready to cook up a storm - it was a great class, really friendly thai teacher who loves to sing and dance, so there was plenty of action in the kitchen and not just from the wok. we made 10 vegetarian courses and ate them all and it was such fun to do and very simple, be warned people when i get home im going to want to show off my talents so expect to be invited round for dinner!!! the course finished at 2pm and i was stuffed and very tired so i went back to the guesthouse for an hours nap before heading to mbk a fantastic shopping centre, oh my goodness i had to physically restrain myself from buying everything there and then - reminding myself i start a tour on sat and dont want too much luggage but one things for certain when the tour ends i will be heading back to bangkok to buy another suitcase and fill it with stuff from mbk. warning - never come to thailand if you have no money! i am so glad it is my last stop before i come home as it means i actually can buy another suitcase whereas if it was my first stop of the trip i wouldnt have even been able to look in mbk for fear of spending money. anyway thats all my news for now, think i might head to china town tommorow and do a meditation course in one of the temples, hav a fun xmas everyone and keep in touch to let me know what your all up to! love always! gem xxxxxxxxxx
