Todays blog will be called: Team Kiwi vs Amsterdam in a day. Hired rollerblades from hostel and went skating around Vondelpark with Chris from Canada. Zara had minor encounter with hill we tried to go down, performing roly poly manoeuvre and collecting some sweet battle scars. Chris was millimetres away from death by bicycle whilst chasing tennis ball Aimee had thrown. Returned blades and collected Rach from hostel then went to one of the canals and hired pedal boats to cruise the canals for an hour with Jess and Jack (Australia). Next stop Anne Frank house and museum, very sombering experience but was really interesting and well done. Walked through the bookcase that hid the entrance to the annexe and through all the rooms, hard to imagine what it must have been like not being able to leave there. An appropriate next destination was the Sexmuseum which provided us with a mixture of hysterical laughter, horror and intrigue. Got a photo with giant penis - that's a keeper! Following with the complete Amsterdam experience, went to the Grasshopper coffee shop to get space cakes. When we asked the guy he claimed they didn't sell them even though they were on display. After much discussion he said they were old, then that we could have one if we wanted since we asked so many questions. Very bizarre so went to other Grasshopper down the road! After last night we had high hopes (no pun intended...) for these space cakes. Chilled there for a while then went for another walk through the red light district cos Jack and Jess hadn't seen it yet. Space cakes still hadn't taken effect, much confusion and anticipation. Walked back to the Flying Pig and hung out in the bar for a bit before crashing. Fail on space cakes.
