Woke up really early today as we were going through the Tracy Arm Fjord from 6am to 10am - a chilly start but the sun shone. Had breakfast in the dining room and met a couple from Southend-on-Sea and learned that their son is engaged to a girl from Fleet in Hampshire! (It's a small world!)
WOW the fjord was amazing! - an announcement was made on ship, and we were all advised that before going down the fjord the ship has to change which fuel they are using, are not allowed to make announcements, nor play music on the outside decks of the ship whilst going down a certain part of the fjord, to keep pollution to an absolute minimum. The scenery was awesome and when we reached the glacier it was a beautiful blue colour. As well as the amazing landscape, we saw many beautiful waterfalls.
As we were leaving the Fjord, we were sat on our balcony and we saw a patch in the sea that looked like lots of crossing currants and rapids - just then I saw something else and out of the water came a head and spray out of a blow hole!!!! It was a WHALE! OMG! We couldn't believe it! Again the whale came up, spray came out of its blow hole and then it went down under the sea and we saw its beautiful black tail just before it disappeared - what an amazing experience!
We arrived at Juneau and queued to get our tender ticket. We got off the ship and boarded the tender and arrived at shore and then headed to the Mount Roberts Tramway, after not too long we boarded our tram/cable car which took us up the mountain - again fantastic views! When we got to the top there were trails and a few touristy shops. We went a little way up the trail (I couldn't go too far - bendy leg syndrome!!) and took some photos before coming back down to once again board a tram/cable car for our decent back down.
