Arrived on a very misty and rainy morning - today we went on the Deadliest Catch Crab Fishermans Tour. The boat we went on is the Aleutian Ballad. When we got out into the sea we couldn't believe it - the cruise ship carnival Miracle was there - this is the ship we are boarding in Vancouver to sail to Hawaii on in a few weeks!
We went out on the boat for around ½ hour and then stopped and the show started - one of the fisherman was a guy who has appeared on the program Deadliest Catch - it was a great excursion - they pulled up pots they had set the day before which contained Box Crab, another had prawns and they pass these around for people to hold - I held a live box crab - ew! And a live prawn who was a wriggler, hence I dropped it - oops! (Gary said I threw it - he was probably right!!!!) The prawn was OK though! (One of the women working on the boat said that's why they have shells!) The King crabs were HUGE! There was also an octopus and star fish that had managed to get into one of the pots. All the sea creatures were returned safely to the sea.
Went to the Sky Observation Lounge Bar when we got back and sat for a few too many hours - had rather a lot of cocktails (mudslides YUM) and Gaz hit the Remy - went back for an hour nap and oops didn't wake up til 11.30pm so missed dinner!
