Hello readers, Merry Christmas, or is it Easter, or maybe its someones birthday - to be honest I dont know - as i sit here in LA writing this, I have no idea where or how or who or why i got here, or what time it is!
Going across the date line hurts heads and it could very possibly ruin lifes! It should at the very least have a medical warning!!
So basically iam in LAÂ having landed 9 hours before I took off on thursday (see what i mean!?) Fiji was a brief if not pleasant adventure - and now that i am recovering my sense of self i can hopefully continue to write a little about it!
I finished working the day before we left New Zealand. A few drinks were had with both sets of my work colleagues, more with the guys from the pub - but that was due to my boss throwing money at his own bar for my benefit! I spent my last week staying out of town with a guy, Chris, from the maritime museum - he was a brilliant host and i ate more heathily under his hospiality than i have for the previous 8 months!
However, all good things come to an end - and it was on a cold saturday kiwi morning that Josh led the charge to Fiji. Jammo and me followed on our flight a few hours later, and enjoyed the free beer of Air Pacific - we managed 5 in 2 hours, and were drinking Fiji beer as we landed!
Due to financial constraints on my part, and on being a lazy arse on Josh's part, we all decided to stay in Nadi - or more to the point at our resort, Smugglers cove, and hours walk from the town itself. When i say an hour, more like an hour and a half - or 2 and a half if you are Gary or Jammo walking the full length of the beach and missing your turn by a good 2 miles!
On the first night in fiji we were introduced to the Kava club, drinking something that i can only decribe as muddy water! Wont be trying that again in a hurry, but it was a nice ceremonial way of welcoming us to the islands. The following night we were treated to some Fiji dances, fire juggling and my own personal pet hate - audience participation dancing! Pictures to follow.......
The rest of the time was spent chilling out and soaking up some sun. We are all pasty white after 2 months in the New Zealand autumn, so it was good to get some colour back that at least makes it look like we might have been away for a little bit! We spent most days in the pool - where we hit a ball around and tried to keep it up between the 3 of us. We belive we have given rise to a new sport, and as such have given it the name "Mockery Ball". Mainly because we spent more time out of the pool getting the ball back. . . . .
After working for 8 weeks straight it was nice to have 5 days off and relax on the beach. A few games of cards, the champions league final and a lot of sleep were just what the doctor ordered! Now we find ourselves in LA, hollywood to be exact - and who knows what adventures we will find for ourselves in the glorious US of A!
Until next time, take care of yourselves - and each other.
