Greetings to all, and sorry for the delay in any sort of update on the site here - its been a very busy month or so since I have last put fingers to keys and typed - although I havent been up to much at the same time - work becoming a dominant feature of my time in New Zealand.
Since I last wrote I have infact shifted duties at work, and am now running the front of house for the national maritime museum of New Zealand, a post I have very much so enjoyed - and got my teeth stuck into! I have also continued to work in the nightclub and bar - most recently serving drinks at the Shortland Street 15th birthday celebrations - so yes, i served a drink to Jango Fett himself, a former shortland street actor, and also to various people i recognized from Lord of the Rings! This adds to Cameron from big brother, and Lisa Stansfield who I have served in the clothes shop......!
Work has been on the whole rather enjoyable, although I would obviously much rather be out doing more exciting things! Me and Josh took the chance to get out on the sea one weekend, and took a trip out on one of the museums ships, the tall ship Breeze. Was quite easy to spot why they call Auckland the city of sails! We went around for around 3 hours, and although the wind was as unreliable here as it has been in Valencia for the Americas Cup, we still had a good time! The Americas cup is huge news over here, and I am required to keep up to date with whats happening as it is an often asked question at the museum front desk!
I also had time to take in some of Aucklands sights, such as Kelly Tarltons aquarium, and the Sky tower which is the highest building in the southern hemisphere! And it has glass floored lifts - nobody told me that until it was way too late! Took me ages to walk down after that.... Mt Eden was somewhat easier for me though, and the views were excellent! The rest of our time has been devoted to the cinema - including most recently Spiderman 3 as we keep up to date with the films we want to see!
Josh has recently headed down south to Queenstown, and it is rumoured that he survived his bungy jump earlier today - althought these reports remain unconfirmed! Jammo is heading down to wellington on saturday to visit Rob Short, and I will remain here in Auckland - so for the first time the trio will be broken up into its own individual pieces! I am moving into a flat with one of the guys from the museum for a week, before heading off to Fiji with the boys again a week later! I am sure that even I can survive a week on my own, not so sure about Jammo though!
So we head off to hunt fish with spears in a little over 10 days, Fiji and warmer weather beckons, so until then - this is your reporter in the field, Gary Fantana signing off!
