Cold but clear bright morning. On the road at 0900. Passed through large areas of State forest then out onto the Darling Downs. Countryside impressive for its vastness, paddocks going right to the horizon in a mirage, but boringly flat and all the same.
Truckies are exciting to share the road with. Passing over double white lines in 60k roadwork speed limit zones and disappearing out of sight!!!!
Passed through Durong, Darr Creek, Jinghi, Jandowue, Jimbour (where today's photo was taken- a 300,000 acre cattle station with a magnificent house whose gardens and outbuildings including the aircraft hangar are all open to the public).
Through to Dalby then via Warrego Hwy to tonight's stopover - Jondaryan Wool Shed. Probably best described as an equivalent to Ballarat's Soverign Hill but demonstrating all aspects of past country life rather than gold mining.
Longest day we have spent on the road, around 5 hours driving, but at 70-80k you don't go anywhere fast.

Wayne Sounds like an interesting place. No doubt full of memories for you? How has the fuel consumption been? Forecast of 10 here today with more rain and snow. Weekend looks a bit better.
gaylenjim Yes, have got all day today going through all the machinery sheds etc. Have been and watched the damper being prepared and it is now cooking in the camp ovens. Fuel consumption has varied as expected depending on the terrain. Yesterday it calculated out at 13.2l/100km , prior to that it was 16 and then 15. Traveling steadily on these flat roads makes a difference and we have virtually no wind.
penny bartley I guess you spent the day at Oakey and then another at the air port at Toowoomba...its probably too late but we could have given you some contacts with aircraft owners. Need a place to park the van. garanteed fun..0746987417 gwenda and leigh CLAYTON 34 Kuhls Rd. HIGHFIELDS (along ridge from Toowoomba towards Crows Nest)
