Broke all the rules today. Drove for 5 hrs, covered too many kilometers and broke out the long trousers!!!
Departed Lake Macquarie (today's photo) 0715 and travelled via Morisset to the Pacific Hwy and headed for Sydney.
All went well until I missed the turnoff to the M2 and we finished up doing an extensive tour of the leafy suburb of Baulkham Hills.
Stopped for a coffee and to reasses. Found our way at last and proceeded until we turned off onto the Old Hume Hwy visiting Berrima and Moss Vale.
Illawarra Hwy back to the Hume and eventually to our current camp at the Penrose State Forest arriving 1315.
Showers which began around midday were the first we have had on our whole trip!! Cold SSW breeze coming off the snow forced the donning of a pair of jeans for my afternoon fossik and later walk in the forest.
Found a 1953 sixpence in good condition as well as other clues to this spot having once been inhabited.
Highway is only 100 meters away so expect to be rocked off to sleep tonight to the sound of a thousand trucks.

Wayne Why you went anywhere near Sydney I'll never understand!!! Each to his own I suppose. Must be awfully smelly in the Winnie if todays showers were the first you've had for the whole trip(you asked for that one!!!!) Long trousers!!!! what a wimp. Snow and shorts down here!!! Su shine this morning and 15 forecast. No doubt it will be in the high teens by the time you get back.
Wayne Correction thats Sunshine this morning!!!
gaylenjim The freeways and ring road system around the city is the recommended and accepted method of avoiding the Great Dividing Range. Had an intimate encounter with a pair of foxes on my early morning walk and have at last decided on a name for the Winnebago. See tonight's blog for detail on both.
