Wanaka - We didnt arrive in Wanaka until 4pm as we had 6 stops on the way, one being a walk down to Lake Matheson where there were stunning reflections of the mountains on the water. When we arrived we only had time to do a quick supermarket shop before we got ready to go down to the bbq and get ready for the pool competition which Sophie and Olive took part in, sadly neither of them won as they were up against what seemed to be a professional chinese snooker player! All of the drinks were on offer some even free when the card machine broke so all of us had a good time, so much so that neither of us remember a huge amount of the night except the 3am fire alarm where we thought it was an outdoor party! oh dear... Lets just say the next day was not fun.
Queenstown - Finally we've arrived in the place everyone is talking about! Our hostel is luxury compared to many others we have been to and we had an ensuite bathroom for the first 5 nights! The first night consisted of Georgia drinking water and both of us going to bed early due to effects from the night before in Wanaka! The second day in Queenstown we sunbathed as it was so hot and then decided we needed a proper meal so went to the waterfront and had a delicious supper that filled us up, after a few nights out in a row we thought it would be good to have an early night. Woke up on sunday and decided it was time for us to try the famous Fergburger, they are huge and filled us up for the rest of the day! More sunbathing and then again it was time to get ready for a night none of us ever thought we would have! We started in the world bar which is the most popular before heading to cowboys where everyone was talking about 3 england cricket players being there. We walked over to our friend Bella who was talking to them and then got introduced to Stuart Broad, Jonny Bairtow and Matt Prior. Lots of people were asking for photos and it was getting them a bit annoyed so soon after we ordered a huge pint of beer each they were telling us they wanted us to go with them to the next bar! After trying to finish the beer we left to go to a bar called Winnies, we walked in, looked around and realised we were the only people in there! 3 cricket players, us 4 girls, and 3 obsessed cricket fans. Stuart or 'Broady' quickly put his credit card behind the bar and told everyone we could have whatever we wanted..before long there was 40 drinks sitting there on the bar! It was crazy! Georgia spoke to Matt Prior and they realised they live very close to each other and will be having drinks at the White Horse in Pulborough! A few hours and drinks later we headed to the next bar for about 10 minutes before they wanted to go back to there hotel, us 4 girls followed them as they asked us if we wanted to go and chill in there hotel.. a 5 star hotel with a huge double bed and a bath, it would definetly have been rude to say no! Georgia had to tell the other boys we were with that they wouldn't be allowed to come! St Maritz hotel is definetly a massive step up from Nomads Hostel, we had been in the suite room no more than 5 minutes before Jonny got up and ordered room service, 3 lasagne's, and 5 bowls of wedges! we finished it all off and they looked at us as if we hadn't eaten in days! We were all missing our baths at home and figured we should take the chance to have one when it was there so we ran a huge bubble bath and all jumped in, so funny! Before long we all realised we didnt want to walk back to our hostel and slept the whole night in Jonny Bairstow's bed! 4 girls in the big double bed and Jonny on the floor, poor guy got kicked out of the bed! The next morning he had to wake up early to go Jetboating and trusted us to stay in his room until we wanted to get up and go, surprisingly! He had told us to leave one by one so we did and on the way down saw more of the team including Andrew Strouse. We walked back to the hostel in the morning heat and decided to have another day of sunbathing. That night we went out with some of the people from our old bus which was so good as we hadn't seen them in a while and we had missed them! It was exciting to be with them again. Tuesday came and it was Sophie and Katie's last day with us both which we were really sad about, particuarly as we had travelled the last month with them. We tried not to think about the fact they would be gone the next morning but it was hard! We had our last night out altogether and made it a good one. Wednesday morning and Sophie and Katie had to get their bus at 8am, so we waved them off. After being persuaded into doing the Shotover Canyon Swing we found ourselves on the edge of a cliff that afternoon. It was 109m high and had a 60m freefall. We watched the others jump first which made us more nervous! It was then our turn and we did it upside down... the scariest thing either of us have done! Georgia was screaming from start to finish but we were very proud of ourselves afterwards. It was so much fun. That evening we were very lucky as the reception computer system broke so we were put into a king ensuite on the top floor. It was luxury! Managed to watch the England vs New Zealand cricket on tv too. The next day went by really quickly and we had our last night out in Queenstown. It was a really good night and we tried out some new bars. This morning we checked out of Nomads and it was time to leave Queenstown. We are now in Dunedin on the bottom bus until Sunday. Will update you when we next have internet before we get to Australia!
