This morning we visited Hallbrunn Palace, the residence of the Prince Archbishop, who like to play tricks on his guests. The trick water fountains reflect the lifestyle of the renaissance. With tricks, sensations and surprises the archbishop "entertained" his guests and allowed them to celebrate boisterously. The two Aussie boys were invited to the 400 year old dinner table where they were sprayed and soaked by many streams of water. There were many more interesting trick fountains where everybody were taken by surprise. We then had lunch at the Palace where Jan had a HUGE banana split. Then we drove back to the hostel in the VW 9 seater vans.
Mini buses then transported us to the Mirabell Gardens where the coach was awaiting us for our Sound of Music tour. We drove past the Nonnburg Abbey where Maria came from originally. Then we travelled to the lake that was out the back of one of the two houses used in the film. We also went to the Gazebo where 16 year old Liesel jumped from stool to stool with her secret boyfriend Rolf. We were not allowed to do this joyous activety as an 80 yr old previously broke her hip jumping on the seats.
A very scenic drive up a windy road to the Mondsee (moon lake) and the church in which Maria and Gayorg were married.
A walk through the new part of´Salzburg to have dinner at a restaurant concluded our day with one of the best meals so far.
