So after a bit of a sleep in we decided to have a lazy morning and wait until this afternoon to head out. Spent a few hours by the pool, mum not brave enough to get in but I love the water and get in any moment I can. Pretty easy day today. Had a late getaway from the hotel after doing some good old handwashing. Headed down to La Rambla and popped into a cafe for breakfast, eating a Biquini (Ham & Cheese Toastie). Slowly wandered down this famous stretch, enjoying the old buildings and taking our time. Introduced mum to the famous Mercat - La Boqueria. Had some lovely cherries and local meat. Jet lag getting better. Awake at 6am this morning. We had tickets for Sagrada Familia today for 9am so off we headed to attempt the Metro for the first time, which is pretty easy. The metro pops you right outside the church so as you come out, there it is, although surrounded by fences as the building work is going strong. Good old jet lag. I was pretty much wide awake from 4am but mum managed to sleep on and off to about 7.30am. After getting organsied and having some brekky at the hotel we headed off to Casa Batllo, one of Gaudi's masterpieces. I saw the home 10 years ago but this time, along with the audio guide, you were given a device like a smart phone which showed you what the rooms may look like furnished or how Gaudi got his inspiration. Up nice and early this morning at 2am for our pick up at 3am to head to the airport. Nice easy run in, as you would expect at that time of the morning but still amazed how much traffic is still on the road at that time of the morning. Checked in nice and easy and had a couple of minutes wait before the gates opened at 4am to let us through immigration. Brand new smart gates were a surprise. No more human contact required.
